[So, Henry has this pink scrapbook with all kinds of pretty pastel like spring pages and also a hugeamount of Valentine's Day stickers. He also has a box of chocolate, but not heart shaped because that seemed like toomuch? Yes. definitely too much. But it's a box full of chocolate, and a note that reads:
Dear Mabel,
I know I haven't really said anything, but I think you're pretty perfect, and really nice, and I think this is probably the time of year that's great for saying all of that. Because hey, no matter what, there's chocolate.
Anyway, I think it'd be pretty great if you'd be my Valentine. But only if you want to. I hope you really like everything!

And then he knocks and leaves because if she doesn't like it all, he's not really sure how to deal with that after the whole Violet thing. HE'S NOT LEARNED HOW TO DEAL WITH REJECTION other than by crying, and he'd be mortified if he did that in front of her so instead he kind of...just...hopes for the best back in his room.]
[what Henry doesn't see is the shrieking and bouncing on the bed and the general mayhem that comes from the gifts, and that's before Mabel even imbibes any of the sugar.
It's not long after receiving them however that he gets this text.]
[Henry’s grin at that is HUGE, and he texts back immediately.]
Really??? You liked everything? And I mean, I don’t just mean that stuff today, I’ve always thought it. But especially after we found the treasure during your birthday.
I thought I was just reading them as signals because I wanted them to be signals!
[He pauses for a second, because oh no, what now? Crap. He has no idea. NO CLUE. He was just going to impress Violet with being from the future and a writer and stuff. He has no actual idea what they do now.]
Wanna come over? We can….get pizza and play video games, or watch movies, or anything else.
[He decides if she suggests ‘anything else’ he’ll go with whatever she wants to do because he’s lost.]
[luckily Mabel is a simple girl with simple tastes and after Gideon's attempts at wooing her, video games seems like the most exciting "date" idea ever conceived by the minds of pre-teen and teen boys. they can work up to fancier things.]
Video games and pizza sound amazing.
